Grade 9 & 10 Math Boot Camps for the 3rd Quadmester

MATH BOOT CAMPS!!

For those taking Math in February, it will have been almost a year since your last 'real' math class! With so much time between courses, the disaster of last spring, and the accelerated courses this year - you need to be ready.

New material and concepts build on those of the previous year. If the foundational knowledge from the previous year is shaky or lacking, it isn't possible to successfully build on it. Our boot camps are designed to solidify those fundamental concepts and then introduce the trickiest bits in the coming term. We call them Boot Camps, but it is a relaxed, judgement free space!

For those in Grade 9, it is important to know that the jump from Grade 8 math to Grade 9 is BIG at the best of times. It is a daunting thought, but we can help. It's what we do!

Sign up and experience what it is like to be confident and prepared for class! They are also excellent reviews if you have completed the course.

Boot Camps are 6 hours long and spread over two days. Refresh your memory of (or learn!) algebra, linear equations, exponent laws, and graphing.

For students in Gr 9 math: Fundamentals of Grade 9 Math February 6th and 7th, from 9:30 to 12:30.

For students in Gr 10 math: Fundamentals of Grade 10 Math February 6th and 7th, from 1:30 to 4:30

The cost of each course is $195

Space is LIMITED, contact us today to reserve your spot!

Covid-19 Update

Dear Study Studio friends and family,

The Covid-19 crisis continues, and our health care systems are pushed to their limits. The government has mandated a second lockdown, and health authorities are asking everyone to do whatever they can to help stop the spread of this disease.

The health and safety of our community remains our top priority. Until it is safe for us to meet again in our beloved Studio, we are meeting online and suspending in-person sessions. We love seeing you in-person, but we won’t put our community at risk.

We have more than 1000 hours of online tutoring under our belts since the 1st lockdown in March! They are amazingly effective sessions.

With so much changed, we are thrilled that we can continue to support you as we always have: same great tutors, same great service!

Sincerely,

Andrew, Ailith and the entire Study Studio team

We are ONLINE! Same great service, same great tutors!

Our sessions have moved online!

The whole team has worked very hard to innovate and modify our operations so you can continue to count on us just like aways! Unique learning opportunities, amazing tutors, a supportive and fun community and TONS of flexibility.

During this process we had lots of questions and you probably do too.
Here are a few:

How will this work?
We are using a program called Zoom. It is very popular for online learning for good reason. It is easy to use and connects our team with your family.
When you receive your session reminders it will include a link to your tutor's 'table' - you just click the link and you are connected with your tutor. SIMPLE.

How does it compare to in-person tutoring? My child needs that personal connection.
The platform is pretty amazing! It allows more connection and collaboration than you might imagine.  There is a shared whiteboard both the tutor and student can work on together as well as a lot of other neat features. You can even raise your hand, send high fives and more!

There is nothing to work on with the extended school closure. What would they do?
What we always encourage our students to do when there is a lull in their workload. Fill in the gaps, strengthen the weak areas, look ahead to the harder concepts. Or if you need a bit of a boost, take a dive into the subjects and things that you enjoy!

Can you still have 2 students working together?
Absolutely! Zoom has amazing flexibility. It will allow us to provide sessions for individuals, pairs, and small groups very easily.

Are there any new learning opportunities or options?
We are SO GLAD you asked! We really are. What did you have in mind? As always YOU tell us what you need and we make it happen for you. We have always and will continue to offer custom programs, we will have group sessions, workshops....learning galore! Stay tuned for announcements.

You know we love to hear from you, let us know what you'd like us to add to our menu! I mean lineup! Isolation makes us hungry.

Sounds good! So now what?
For those of you who have sessions booked (regular sessions resume Sunday, March 22), we will see you online at your regular time :) Remember, your session reminders will have the info you need to connect with your tutor. It really is that easy!

Otherwise, get in touch and we'll get you started on the learning path that suits you best!

Ministry of Education Announcement
On March 20th, the Ministry of Education announced plans to provide independent learning materials online. The Study Studio is fully prepared and equipped to support the online options put forth by the Ministry.

The truth is, we don't know what the rest of the school year will look like. But we DO know that the skills and knowledge that are required to move on to the next grade and be successful haven't changed.

We sincerely appreciate your support in these times. Together we can keep our kids active, interested and ready to hit the ground running when routines normalize.

If you don't already, make sure you follow us on Facebook, we will be posting updates there.

Go Team!

Covid-19 Update

Dear Study Studio friends and family,

Like all of you, we are gravely concerned about the COVID-19 crisis and are trying to navigate our way through this new reality. Rest assured, the health and well being of our tutors and students will always be our first priority. The situation and recommendations are changing rapidly and we have made the hard decision to temporarily suspend all in-person tutoring.

The GOOD News? Yes there IS good news!

We will be offering online enrichment and tutoring sessions in the mean time!  Many of our tutors and parents have already requested this, and we are finalizing the details of what that will look like now.

We cannot in good conscience offer in-person tutoring when social distancing and just plain staying home is the best advice we are getting from all levels of health authorities. We love this community and simply won't put it at risk.

On a more personal level, we would like to thank you all for your continued support (and patience!) as we work to change how we meet your learning needs in ways that keep us all safe! We consider everyone who comes to The Study Studio as part of our family, and are honoured that you have welcomed us into the lives of your sons and daughters. We will continue to work hard and evolve our practices to meet your needs.
We trust all of you are looking after yourselves, physically and mentally. Remember to stay connected with friends, family and those who may be alone in our community. A sense of support and togetherness can help to ease anxieties many are feeling.

Sincerely,

The Study Studio
